The world is currently afflicted with two pandemics. One is a virus with flu-like symptoms that most people recover from. Around 14% develop more serious symptoms and recover whereas 5% require intensive care where a relatively high percentage - varying across countries - die. Lives are being lost and each one is a tragedy in its own right.
The other pandemic is a government-sanctioned lockdown and prohibition from doing business and other meaningful activities.
Both pandemics came from China. We need not suffer from both of them.
Viruses - and other atrocities - happen and will continue to happen.
Far more serious is the fact that democratic countries are dealing with Covid 19 as if they are repressive Chinese regimes. That is an absolute outrage and we should be a lot more upset about it as citizens of democracies.
